Dear Stitchers,
First, I apologize if you are receiving multiple copies of this email. I am mailing each of the listings that are active for this year. If you are on more then one child's listing you will receive more then one copy of this email. I am sorry for that.
There is a touchy subject that I need to bring up. Love Quilts runs strictly on a donation basis. In the confirmation letter you receive we ask that if you are able to afford it that you send $2.00 with each square. You must realize what it costs to finish a quilt. We use 6-8 yards of fabric (we try hard to get it on sale or clearance, but that isn't always possible), the quilt has batting in between as well as a pillow form if a pillow is being given as well. The finished quilt also needs to be mailed to the child and the parents have to sign for it so we know it arrived safely. We average about $60.00 per quilt in costs.
I just recently found out that donations are down and now the postal rates have once again gone up. I hate to bring this up, I hate to ask, but if Love Quilts is going to continue we need to be able to cover the cost of each quilt going out. We don't profit from any of this, our costs are strictly recorded, receipts are kept etc. I don't think that we need to up the cost from $2.00 as long as there is enough coming in.
I fully understand if you are unable to send the $2.00 due to financial issues, but if you are able, can you please send it with each square? I would really hate to close down Love Quilts because of this, but I also can't ask the finishers to use $60.00 of their own money to finish and mail each quilt.
I am so sorry to have to be bringing this up. If you are sending the $2.00 with your square please know that we are very thankful, thank you! It is an awful subject to bring up, I really do apologize for that!! If you are able to send us the $2.00 with each square you send please do so, we will be so grateful for anything we receive.
